About Us
Sevier County's Promise is the local chapter of America's Promise, a national nonprofit organization launched by General Colin L. Powell in 1997 dedicated to improving the lives of children and youth.
Sevier County's Promise is a local nonprofit that helps businesses, organizations and individuals from all sectors of our community work together on behalf of children and youth. Sevier County's Promise educates the community about the need to fulfill the Five Promises for every child and young person. The program assesses community needs and addresses those needs by seeking resources for youth-service providers. The program also facilitates collaboration among youth-service providers. Although Sevier County's Promise is primarily to help the youth of our community, it will also help with other community needs as well.
“America’s Promise is pulling together the might of this nation to strengthen the character and competence of youth. And it’s working.” - Founding Chairman, General Colin L. Powell Today’s young people face incredible challenges. But we believe that young people can accomplish any goal or task they decide upon. All they need are the Five Promises – the fundamental resources that can make their dreams realities.
Sevier County's Promise Mission Statement We are an alliance of leaders from many sectors and our collective mission is to collaborate with the people and availale resources of Sevier County to build the character, self esteem, integrity and life skills of our children and youth by fulfilling the Five Promises of America's Promise.
